I don't have a question, but a comment. I am interested to see,
Ellen, that you started out with a B.A. in studio art, because I am a young
(mid-20's) woman with a background in drawing and painting. I'm writing
because I got married in August and we're setting up house for the first
time here in Cambridge. I bought your book on green housekeeping, and it has
changed my life! I was raised in a house full of conventional cleaners and
paper towels, and I always admired my grandmother's tidy set of washcloths.
Now I actually know how to use rags and washcloths... a big deal, since I
never learned that at home! I even bought a Dutch rubber broom, and it is
awesome. As a woman on a limited budget, and with limited time, I really
appreciate your book! And it's well-written, too! It's my reference for
keeping my house clean and organized, and for teaching my husband how to do
the same. Our next step is setting up a composting system.

I have a bit of a testimony for you. Thank you so much, you
inspire my green side! I started a few worm bins using your booklet while
living in Montana and had great success. I even donated my biggest bin to
the local elementary school when I moved to MN. Now I'm eager to start one
up again here in MN. Even my kids and husband miss having the "pets"
around, for differing reasons. Without a bin currently, I feel like I'm
shirking my eco-responsibility. I'll be by soon to get a starter kit and
worms!Thanks!

We were very excited to start our indoor worm composting bin. And
so pleased that we could do it on a low budget. We checked out library
books, used a household bin, and found worms in the woods under logs.
It turns out that they are the wrong kind of worms and the research we had
was out-dated. I learned more in just a couple minutes of talking to Ellen
than I had in the weeks of research I did on my own. Finding this site and
subsequently talking to Ellen was a great resource for us. You helped us
sort through the contradictory advice we had been getting. We are now
recharged, inspired, and ready to start again. I never expected such
wonderful service.
